Fishing Reports 2014

Opening Day 2014

Well, it was indeed cold, grey and windy and my expectations were very low. I fished on the Middle Farm stretch between 11:30am and 2pm and despite the conditions being far from ideal with a gusty westerly wind blowing up river there was a sporadic and sparse hatch of olives with a small number of fish rising to them.

I fished two spiders, snipe and purple and partridge and orange, and managed to catch two trout and a very small grayling. All fish took the snipe and purple dropper. When the hatch finished, I tried two weighted nymphs but had no further takes. That's the season off to a reasonable start considering the conditions, I will now wait until the conditions are a little more favourable.
